ComicConnect

From Superman #75

The Man of Steel's battle against a prehistoric Krypton creature called Doomsday chronicled in 1992's Superman #75 The Death of Superman is estimate to have sold more tham 6m copies.

The set of original drawings is under the hammer at ComicConnect's online auction finishing April 12.

“This extraordinary collection, comprising 25 interior pages plus the iconic cover for a total of 26 pieces marks one of the most significant offerings of superhero art in recent history, ” said Stephen Fishler, CEO and co-founder of ComicConnect and Metropolis Collectibles.

Penned and penciled by Dan Jurgens with inks by Brett Breeding, Superman #75 sparked a media frenzy. Shortly after it was published, Jurgens put the original black-and-white drawings up for auction where it sold for $28,000. A few years later, the buyer sold them for $200,000 to a collector who now is putting them on the market through ComicConnect.

The pages are being auctioned individually. Highlights include the dramatic cover art depicting Superman’s tattered cape fluttering amid rubble, key interior panels illustrating the Doomsday confrontation including the final double-page spread of Superman’s last moments, and the funeral scene with Superman’s mournful friends and family standing over a coffin embossed with the classic S logo.
